Every Vercel plan and what it costs

| Plan | Price | Billing | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hobby | $0 | per month | "Our Hobby plan is for personal, non-commercial use", per the pricing FAQ, so a funded startup's marketing site is not eligible however small it is |
| Pro | $20 | per month | per developer seat - One developer seat included and $20 a month for each one after, with unlimited free viewer seats. Includes $20 of usage credit, then 1 TB of bandwidth and 10M requests before overages |
| Enterprise | Custom | Negotiated | SLA, SAML SSO and isolated infrastructure |
| Bandwidth beyond the included terabyte Add-on | $0.15 | per usage | Per GB, after the 1 TB a month included with Pro |
| Requests beyond the included ten million Add-on | $2 | per usage | Per million, after the 10M a month included with Pro |
What Vercel actually costs over a year
A monthly price is not the same thing as a monthly contract. These are the plans above resolved both ways, per seat or unit where the plan is charged that way. Where a vendor quotes only a yearly figure it is divided by twelve rather than left out, and the Quoted column says which figure the vendor actually publishes.
| Plan | Quoted | Monthly | Over 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Proper developer seat | per month | $20 | $240 |
Vercel pricing against its competitors
Compared on the smallest invoice each vendor will accept, not on the advertised per-seat rate. Where a product has a seat minimum, the figure below is the minimum times the rate, because that is the cheque you would actually write.
| Product | Cheapest paid entry | Free plan | Against Vercel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Netlify | $9 a month | Yes | −$11 a month (−55%) |
| Framer | $10 a month | Yes | −$10 a month (−50%) |
| Vercel | $20 a month | Yes | This product |
Which Vercel plan should you buy?
| Your situation | Recommended | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You are deploying a personal, non-commercial project | Hobby | Free, but non-commercial use only. A side project that earns money is outside these terms, which catches people out. |
| You are shipping anything commercial | Pro | $20 per user a month plus metered bandwidth, functions and image optimisation. The usage is the part to model. |
| You need an SLA, SAML or isolated infrastructure | Enterprise | Quote only. |
| You build with Next.js | Pro | Same team as the framework, so incremental static regeneration, image optimisation and edge middleware need least configuration here. |
| Your costs are dominated by bandwidth | Consider Cloudflare Pages instead | Substantially cheaper at volume. |
| You publish a static content site | Consider Cloudflare or Netlify | You would be paying for a platform whose advantages are framework-specific. |

Preview deployments are the actual product
Ask a team that has moved to Vercel what they would miss and the answer is rarely the CDN. It is that every pull request gets a working URL a designer or a client can open. Review stops being a description of a change and becomes the change. That is worth more than most infrastructure features.
Understand the billing dimensions before launch
Vercel’s Pro plan is a seat fee plus metered usage. The dimensions that catch people out are bandwidth, function invocations, function duration and image optimisation. A single popular post with large images can move the bill in a way a fixed-price host would not. Set spend alerts on day one, not after the first surprise.
Hobby means non-commercial
The free tier is generous and explicitly not for commercial projects. Running a business site on Hobby is a terms violation, not a clever saving.
The lock-in question, fairly
Next.js is open source and runs elsewhere. But the features that make it pleasant - incremental static regeneration, image optimisation, middleware at the edge - are best supported on Vercel, and reproducing them on another host is real work. That is not malice; it is what happens when a framework and a platform share a roadmap. Decide with it in mind.
